Ancient Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games to stage the final sprint of the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas

The riders of the Tour will begin from Costa Navarino their final quest for the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas trophy, a route of 133.5 km.

Pyrgos, a small village in Trifylia will welcome the first KOM approximately 15 km after the start of the race. Next is the town of Gargalianoi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe (since 3000 BC). In ancient times, Gargalianoi was part of the realm of Pylos, ruled by King Nestor.

The peloton will leave Gargalianoi behind and will return to the coastal road of the Gulf of Kyparissia. After a 32.2km ride, the first intermediate sprint will take place in Marathopolis quite close to the city of Filiatra.

The coastal town of Zacharo will welcome the riders for the second intermediate sprint well after the midway mark (85.4km). The area’s landscape features large sandy beaches, the Kaiafas Lake, and the Thermal Springs.

In Samikon aka Samicum, a town of Triphylia in ancient Elis a little north of the river Anigrus the KOM jersey winner will be decided since the last climb of the Tour awaits the peloton after 99 kilometres.

Then comes the last part of the stage and of the whole Tour; the road that leads to Ancient Olympia the birthplace of the Olympic Games and one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.

The race will conclude in the place where the Olympic flame is lit every two years, an ideal scene for the grand finale of the 2023 ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas.
