Oraganisers of the 2023 ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas, which revived in 2022 following a ten-year hiatus, present a brand-new route.
The race for the 20 participating teams and the 120 registered riders, starts on May 2 from Heraklion, with the Prologue at the Karteros Beach Sports Center, and continues with four stages:
A challenging and spectacular sequence of stages will see riders tackling Mt. Psiloritis in Crete, a land where the Minoan Civilisation flourished, and then passing by Peloponnese’s famous landmarks, including Mycenae, the historic city Kalamata, the palace of Nestor, and the golden shores of Costa Navarino. The finish line awaits riders in Ancient Olympia, a major religious sanctuary of Ancient Greece, on May 6.
More than 40 TV channels have secured broadcast rights from the Organising Committee (Cycling Greece) which was set up by the Deputy Minister of Sports Lefteris Avgenakis, meaning the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas will enjoy global coverage.
All five race days will be broadcast in 174 countries, an impressive record number for the Tour of Hellas. These countries are:
The TV crew that has a vast amount of experience in UCI races will use state-of-the-art technology, the same as the corresponding production of next August’s World Championships in Glasgow.
Greece’s national broadcaster, ERT will offer 1.5-hour live coverage of each stage, through the ERTFLIX platform. Additionally, TV partner, Alpha TV will show a daily review of each stage, while Eurosport will also broadcast daily highlights and extensive reports.
