Stage 1: Patras – Agrinio (140.44 km)

The first stage includes the pre-start at the University of Patras. After an easy ride across the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, the Tour officially commences outside Antirrio, on the old road that leads to Ioannina.

The view of the Gulf of Patras which facilitates access to and from Central Greece offers the Tour’s first impressive backdrop. Then comes the first intermediate sprint in front of Lord Byron’s statue in Mesolongi, a city known as the site of a dramatic siege during the Greek War of Independence, and of the death of the famous Briton poet.

The nearby coastal town of Astakos hosts the second intermediate sprint, and after crossing the villages of Karaiskakis, Babini, and Stratos where the famous riverside lake of the Achelous River is located, riders will tackle the first KoM in Fyties.
The stage finishes on Charilaou Trikoupi St. in the city of Agrinio.

Stage 2: Agrinio – Arachova (176.55 km)

The second stage starts in Agrinio, the largest settlement in Aetolia-Acarnania, a city that masterfully blends warm hospitality with exceptional natural beauty.

The pre-start is due to take place at Democracy Square and the clock will start running in the village of Kainourgio, which is built east of the Ermitsa River and west of Mount Panetolikos. In the town of Thermo the first KoM sprint challenge awaits the riders. Thermo was the most important city in Aetolia and the administrative and religious centre of the Aetolian Community in antiquity.

Outside the lowland lakeside settlement of Pamfio, comes the first intermediate sprint. Next, riders will ascend to Dounaiika and towards the famous Banias bridge, the Evinos River, and Trikorfos Kalavrouza, for the 2nd KoM sprint. Heading towards Nafpaktos from the Peripheral Road and along the coastline of the Gulf of Corinth, they will reach Itea, for the second intermediate sprint of the day.

Itea is a city that stretches across the Krissaian Plain, with Mount Giona and Mount Parnassos in the background. From there, participants will ascend and pass through Delphi, ending in the famous mountainous town Arachova, a popular winter destination built on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassos.

Stage 3: Delphi – Chalkida (151.58 km)

The stage commences from the world-famous and UNESCO-protected archaeological site of Delphi. The pre-start will kick off at the Archaeological Museum and the official start from the settlement of Chrysos.

The first KoM uphill sprint takes place in the traditional mountain village of Desfina, amphitheatrically built at the foot of Mount Kirfi. The first intermediate sprint occurs in Aliartos, a town belonging to the Regional Unit of Boeotia, and a second will follow in Thebes, one of the most powerful Greek cities of antiquity.

The riders will then ride towards the Gulf of Euboea and pass by Paralimni a lake fed by Lake Yliki. The stage concludes in Chalkida, the capital and main port of the Island of Evia. The finish line will be below the Karababa Fortress, where the ancient city of Kanithos once was.

Stage 4: Chalkida – Olympic Village (186 km)

The fourth stage is the Queen Stage of this year’s ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas, with 3764 metres of elevation gain.

The pre-start will take place from Evia’s second largest city, Nea Artaki, and its picturesque port, and the start will follow soon after, on the city's outskirts. The first KoM sprint awaits in the Dirfi mountain range while the second is in the settlement of Stropones, which is built between Dirfi and has an altitude of 1743 metres.

The riders will then move along the Chalkida-Aliveriou avenue and pass by the Arethousa Museum in Chalkida. The ancient Boeotian city of Avlida, the port from which the Greek army set sail for the Trojan War, will host the first intermediate sprint. After crossing the High Bridge of Chalkida, they will reach Parnitha's eastern slopes and Agios Merkourios, for the 3rd KoM climb.
The Olympic Village, built to accommodate 17.000 athletes, coaches, and officials for the needs of the 2004 Olympic Games, and more precisely the Olympic Champions Square will serve as the finishing point of the stage where a mass celebration is expected, with many Olympic champions, and great Greek athletes expected to attend. A variety of side events for all ages have been planned.

Stage 5: Marathon – Athens Syntagma Aquare (156.57 km)

The final stage will begin with the pre-start on the beach of Nea Makri in the Municipality of Marathon, and the start in Neos Voutzas.

The first intermediate sprint follows in modern-day Artemis, near the sanctuary of Bravrona, where the goddess Artemis was worshipped. The first KoM sprint will take place in the city of Keratea, at the foot of Mount Panion.

Poseidon's Temple is another famous archeological site riders will pass by. The southern suburb of Voula will host the second intermediate sprint while a third one will be staged in Ilioupoli. The Tour’s participants will then ride next to the Panathenaic Stadium and towards the final part of the race in Syntagma Square.

After a circuit in the centre of Athens, they will finish in front of the Hellenic Parliament building, on the north side of the emblematic Syntagma Square.

The imposing building carries a long history and is directly linked to the early days of the modern Greek state. Originally the Palace of Kings Otto and George (1836-1862), houses the Parliament of Greece since 1929.
