Matteo Moschetti's life lesson - The Italian rider returns to ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas 2025 following a gruesome accident

Just like in all major sporting events, the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas unfolds stories that often upstage riders’ heroics. The 28-year-old Italian Matteo Moschetti is a top-class rider and member of the Pro Tour team Q36.5. He has participated in many top international races, riding for some of the most prestigious cycling teams, such as World Tour Trek, with whom he competed in the 2022 Hellenic Tour!
Moschetti, winner of the second stage of the Tour in 2022 with Trek, returns to the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas 2025, after surviving a very serious accident in July 2024. The Italian had a serious neck injury, broke his collarbone, and suffered abrasions on various parts of his body when he was hit by a truck during training.
The Italian decided to return to racing action on October 10, 2024, well before three months had passed since his accident. He participated in the Gran Piemonte race and aimed to experience real competition again.
It was a wise decision that helped him enter 2025 with high expectations, as was evident in his first race of the year, the AlUla Tour in Saudi Arabia. His victory in this race, on February 12, marked his impressive comeback and was proof that human-will move mountains.
Emils Liepins, Nickolas Zukowsky, Nicolo Parisini, Frederik Frison, and Tom Pidcock were in the leading group at the front along with Matteo. Having put the traumatic experience aside, Moschetti pushed himself to the limit, reaching a speed of 83 km/h in the final 500-metre long straight -one of the fastest performances ever recorded- and achieved an astonishing victory.
It was a great demonstration of his physical and mental strength and a confirmation that despite the difficulties, his will was so strong that nothing could stop him from winning.
Matteo Moschetti will be among the athletes to watch in the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas 2025 with his Q36.5 team. He feels ready to deliver another life lesson and offer unforgettable moments to cycling fans who will watch him racing in Greece.
The ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas 2025 begins on April 2 in Patras, while the day before the city’s port will play host to the teams’ presentation. The race will conclude on Sunday, April 6 with the final stage from Marathon to Syntagma.
