Corporate Social Responsibility
Our team has taken on the task of reviving and organizing the ΔΕΗ International Cycling Tour of Greece, as well as other cycling events and initiatives aimed at promoting safe road behavior and the use of bicycles as a safe mode of transportation.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we implement actions that promote sustainable development, social contribution, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups in sports.
Promotion of Sustainable Mobility
We encourage bicycle use as an environmentally friendly means of transport, helping reduce emissions and fostering a more sustainable environment.
Community Engagement
We collaborate with local communities to promote health, physical activity, and road safety by organizing cycling events and road safety seminars.
Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Sports
Supporting access to sports for people with disabilities is a core initiative, facilitating their participation through specialized equipment, educational programs, and inclusive events.
Environmental Protection
We organize and participate in environmental activities, such as route cleanups and protection of local ecosystems, ensuring that cycling areas remain clean and sustainable.
Educational Programs
We offer seminars and programs focused on the safe use of bicycles, promoting awareness of cycling as a practical form of daily transportation and exercise.
At ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas, Corporate Social Responsibility is not just an obligation but an integral part of our philosophy. Through sports, we aspire to enhance social cohesion, equality, and sustainability while promoting health and accessibility for all.
In collaboration with Cycling Greece, we aim to highlight cycling as a powerful tool for the inclusion and integration of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in sports. Cycling serves not only as a means of engaging in sports but also as a vehicle for the full and harmonious socialization of individuals with disabilities. ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas is proud to support this initiative aimed at promoting inclusion—a concept that refers to the harmonious coexistence of all individuals, regardless of their abilities, in a society free from discrimination.
We are excited to announce again Nikos Papaggelis as ambassador of social responsibility for the event. Nikos, a Paralympic cyclist, is a living testament to strength, hope, and perseverance. At the age of 21, he qualified and participated in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, finishing in 6th place, and this year at the Paris Paralympics, he achieved 4th place.
Nikos is not just an athlete, he is a symbol that inspires others by promoting the importance of equality and inclusion.
Nikos's story begins with a personal journey of overcoming adversity when he lost his leg to cancer at a young age. After his amputation, cycling gave him back the sense of freedom and independence he longed for. As he has said:
"Cycling was love at first sight. It gave me the freedom I couldn't have with a prosthetic limb after the amputation. I felt like I could do anything I wanted. It provided me with the independence I hadn't learned to embrace until now."
Through his athletic career and activist endeavors, Nikos demonstrates the power of sports to boost self-esteem, improve mental and physical health, and foster a society that respects and accepts diversity. Access to sports for PWD remains a significant challenge, especially for younger individuals who often face insurmountable barriers to participation.
Our mission is to inform and encourage people with disabilities to engage in sports, highlighting the need for equality in athletics and providing opportunities for all, regardless of their abilities.
Cycling Greece, in partnership with ΔΕΗ, is committed to promoting social responsibility through initiatives that encourage access, inclusion, and sustainability. Through sports, we can create a community that respects the environment, fellow human beings, and itself, contributing to building a future free from exclusions.
Inclusion, based on values such as equality and social justice, is a moral obligation for all of us.
Through the power of sports, we can build a society where resilience and mutual support are the cornerstones of progress.
