Larissa

Strategically located in the heart of Thessaly and in the center of Greece, Larissa stands as a dynamic administrative, economic, business, and athletic hub, with a history that stretches deep into the centuries. At the very core of the city lies the First Ancient Theatre, Larissa’s emblematic landmark of global cultural significance, welcoming residents and visitors to the Acropolis of Larissa (the Fortress), with the imposing Bezesteni and the Early Christian Basilica of Saint Achillios. In the city center, an extensive network of walking and cycling routes leads to and from Alcazar Park, the Grove, Mezourlo Hill, the burial monument of Hippocrates, and the Botanical Garden dedicated to the father of Medicine, while the lush banks of the Peneios River form an integral part of daily life, movement, and recreation. Karpenisi – Larisa

157.5 km | Elevation gain: 1,601 m

From the heart of Evrytania to the heart of Thessaly.

The start is given from Karpenisi’s central square, with kilometer 0 shortly after joining the national road. Attacks are expected immediately, as the day’s first major climb begins almost right away.

A 12.7 km ascent at 4.1% will test the peloton and is likely to split it early. The climbers targeting the mountains classification will be looking for the first serious breakaway and valuable KOM points.

Through the imposing Tymfristos massif—with Alpine-like scenery—the route reaches the “Tarzan” KOM, before the final KOM of the day at Rentina.

From kilometer 52 onwards, the scenery changes dramatically. Long descents and open straights—with Lake Smokovo on the right—lead into the Thessalian plain. Speed rises and the race dynamics shift.

A long straight delivers the first intermediate sprint in Kallifoni, while at around 100 km the race passes through the center of Karditsa, a city closely linked to the Tour of Hellas. Spectators will witness a powerful sprint outside the park before the race turns towards Larisa.

Just after Sykies, a short kicker hosts the Avance Mile—a perfect launchpad for a fierce battle for bonus seconds.

The final 20 kilometers are all about positioning and preparation for the finishing sprint. The Tour of Hellas finishes in Larisa for the second time—and for the first time in the main square, in front of City Hall.

Will the sprinters survive 1,600 meters of climbing?
Or will we see a late attack stick?
