Atalanti

Atalanti, the seat of the Municipality of Lokroi, has been inhabited since ancient times and harmoniously combines lowland and semi-mountainous landscapes with a picturesque coastal front. The wider Atalanti area is particularly fertile, with a strong tradition in the cultivation of olives, vineyards, and various agricultural products. Dozens of smaller settlements surround the town, which has historically served as the commercial, administrative, and productive center of Lokroi. Embraced by lush pine forests and a diverse and scenic coastline, the area offers ideal routes for leisure, hiking, and a wide range of outdoor activities. The region is perfectly suited for seaside vacations, cultural exploration, and the development of mild tourism activities, including both road and mountain cycling, making Atalanti an alternative destination for visitors of all ages.

Parnitha

Acharnes and Mount Parnitha form a distinctive and demanding road cycling destination, located just outside Athens yet defined by a truly mountainous character. At the northern foothills of Attica’s highest mountain, the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas 2026 routes highlight the transition from urban landscape to challenging natural terrain, putting riders’ endurance, strategy, and race pace to the test. Acharnes serves as a natural gateway to Mount Parnitha and an ideal starting point for a racing section that combines open roads with a gradual ascent. As the peloton moves toward the mountain, gradients increase and the terrain becomes more technical, featuring successive bends and changes in elevation through fir-covered passages, with panoramic views over the Attica basin. The climb towards Mont Parnes, dominated by the iconic casino overlooking the mountain, stands out as a key point of the route. Its sustained gradients create the perfect conditions for attacks and decisive race moves, making this section crucial to the overall outcome of the stage. Close to the city yet defined by a strong racing identity, the Acharnes – Mount Parnitha route fully embodies the philosophy of the ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas: high-level road cycling on routes with character, natural intensity, and a clear competitive challenge.

Atalanti – Acharnes (Parnitha)

180.9 km | Elevation gain: 2,808 m

The Parnitha showdown.

The stage starts from Atalanti’s main square, with kilometer 0 on the straight to Skala. The opening kilometers run right alongside the sea, with views over the Evoikos Gulf, before passing through Malesina and Martino.

The route then heads towards Kastro and across the Boeotian plain, reaching Aliartos for the first intermediate sprint, outside the town’s high school. On flat roads, the peloton rolls on to Thebes, where an intermediate sprint returns once again.

From there, the race turns left towards Dervenochoria through spectacular scenery—an area often called the “Greek Tuscany”. On the 10 km straight after Pyli sits the Avance Mile.

And this is where the flats end.
Next comes the “reverse” climb of Fyli, from Skourta up to the ancient fortress—one of Attica’s most famous training climbs (Cat. 2 KOM). A fast descent through Fyli leads into Acharnes, where the legs start preparing for the big finale.

The Parnitha climb begins just before the tavern area, with the main ascent starting at the cable car.
17.4 km at 4.9%, finishing outside the Casino entrance (Cat. 1 KOM / summit finish).

Eleven hairpins on Attica’s highest mountain—this is where the GC battle peaks.
