Volos – Lamia
207.3 km | Elevation gain: 4,216 m
The queen stage of the 2026 ΔΕΗ Tour of Hellas.
The longest. The toughest. The most decisive.
The stage starts from the Volos waterfront, with the peloton rolling along the coast and kilometer 0 given after the Vryhonas bridge.
A Volos stage must go to Pelion. For the first time in the race’s history, the Tour of Hellas climbs the mountain of the Centaurs, looping around the Pelion massif before returning past Volos City Hall and heading towards Almyros.
The first major climb begins from Ano Lechonia:
10.9 km at 5.9% to the summit at Ag. Georgios (Cat. 1 KOM).
Pinakates, Milies, Tsagarada—then the route turns towards the Aegean, passing through lush forests and waterfalls. This is arguably the most breathtaking TV section of the entire race.
Soon after comes the toughest climb of the 2026 edition:
10.6 km at 7.9% finishing at Chania. Those numbers tell only half the story: a brutal 3 km stretch at 11% will test even the best climbers—around 150 km before the finish.
After the technical descent through Portaria, the peloton returns through central Volos for the first intermediate sprint, then continues south for a second sprint in Almyros.
But the stage is far from over.
At 138 km, Anavra awaits:
15 km at 4.7%, climbing through the area’s
Environmental Park (Cat. 2 KOM).
Just before the dramatic descent of Domokos comes the Avance Mile—the last chance for bonus seconds—before the race skirts Lamia with the Castle on the left and finishes at the Lamia Expo site.
Is this where the GC will explode?
